Good evening, this is Mr Byland with a quick question DC trip update. We WILL still be going on the trip tomorrow despite the remote day! Buses load at 8am.
Due to the Winter Weather Advisory of snow showers, black ice and freezing temperatures all day tomorrow, Yancey County Schools will have a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Our principals and teachers will work with students and families if their WiFi is not in service at home due to the weather.
Students - check your school email, Google Classroom accounts or ClassDoJo for any additional information your teacher may provide. Middle and high school assignments may also be sent out electronically. Students please log on with your teachers at 10:00 a.m.
Please drive safely tomorrow.

Our students will be dismissed at the following times today:

Students going on the DC trip will need to pack for colder conditions as the forecast looks chilly. Please review the recommended list of things to pack. Students will need to be dropped off at 6am. Chaperones will need to park in the open teacher parking lot on the hill.
Yearbooks are for sale for $40. Please send your child to Mrs. Patti to get a form if you need one.
Spring pictures will be on March 23rd. The dental clinic will also be here that day.
We will have our student volleyball tournament on Monday. Students can bring money for concessions.

Due to a gas line break at Cane River Middle School, students have been evacuated to Blue Ridge Elementary School. Students will be dismissed from there. Buses will take students home as normal. Parents can pick up their children at BRES beginning at 11:30 a.m. Please enter at the main entrance and follow the pick-up line. If you need to change your child's pick up instructions, please call BRES at 828-682-8150.

This message is for 8th grade parents. As a reminder we have the 8th grade dance meeting tonight at EY at 5pm if you'd like to help out with that. Also, all 8th graders will register for high school classes on Friday afternoon. The money for the Dollywood 8th grade trip is due March 2.

We were so thrilled to have DARE for all of our seventh graders! DARE Graduation On Friday featured an awesome guest speaker, and every student received a DARE t-shirt from the YCS Sheriff's Department. A huge thank you to Sheriff Hilliard and Deputy Amber Ayers for making this a reality for our students!
